Meet Opileni

Opileni is on the ORA Uganda sponsorship programme and was previously sponsored by an organisation in Austria. Unfortunately, the organisation ceased sponsorship in 2022, leaving 35 children without sponsors. Our local partners, ORA Uganda, have continued providing for these children in the interim, in the hope that new sponsors will be found. This is putting immense financial strain on the organisation. Opileni is still without a sponsor; here’s her story.

Opileni joined the sponsorship programme in 2021. She is currently in Primary 6. Opileni is hardworking, disciplined, and performs well at school, showing determination to achieve her goal of becoming a nurse.

Opileni is described as playful and friendly by her aunt, who is her guardian and primary caregiver. Following the tragic death of her father, ORA Uganda has been a significant source of support and counselling for Opileni and her family. To assist her aunt, Opileni takes on additional domestic responsibilities, including fetching water and firewood. Despite these hardships, she maintains a positive outlook on her home life, stating, “Thanks for helping me. May God reward you with his riches in heaven.”

If you would like to sponsor Opileni, please email info@hopestreet.org.
