ORA Christmas Party 2024

In Uganda under the December sun, children and families gathered for a day that was more than just a party – it was a celebration of love, hope, and the strength of community.

The ORA staff and sponsored children arrived early, working together to prepare for the festivities, including cooking and decorating the base. The children planned entertainment for the day, with lots of dancing to Christmas songs!

Over 95 of the sponsored children and some graduates were able to attend the Christmas party with their guardians, along with children from the wider community who were welcomed to celebrate the day. One graduate, now working with the government, shared his journey. He highlighted the challenges he overcame and the importance of the support he received along the way, inspiring the children and their guardians.

Anthony, the Project Director, used the world map to show the distance between New Zealand and Uganda. He shared the parable of a small loaf of bread being used to serve many, emphasising that even limited resources can have a powerful impact. Anthony spoke of the economic challenges felt worldwide and encouraged the children to adopt new situations with faith, hope, and love.

The day ended with a shared lunch, and a delicious Christmas cake! Everyone headed home happy and satisfied. Children received their gifts and cards from sponsors, wrapping up a joyous celebration.
