Meet Patrick

Patrick is in Primary 3 (NZ equivalent year 3). His favourite subject is English, which he is learning as a second language. He wants to be a Policeman when he grows up.

Patrick’s story is a very sad one. His parents totally abandoned him. He lived with his elderly grandmother for a while, but eventually she became too weak to look after him. Now he lives with his paternal aunt who is already looking after six children and struggles to care for them all as she only earns about $50 a month doing casual work.

Our International Partners work with children just like Patrick. ORA Uganda runs a rural child sponsorship program supporting 160 children from impovershed families. They are able to provide education, after-school tuition, basic health care, counselling, agricultural training and access to extracurricular activities. It is a privilage of ours to partner with ORA Uganda in finding sponsors to support children just like Patrick, giving them the opportunity to create futures they may otherwise never have had.
